Family Appreciation Day draws more than 150 people for fun, camaraderie
Judging by the enthusiastic attendance, it looks as though the Aurora Association of REALTORS® Family Appreciation Day is now a tradition.
The second-ever event, hosted by AAR’s Affiliate Committee June 21, brought together more than 150 people, with Association members bringing their families along for the celebration.
This year’s event featured a fun new twist – the AAR Olympics. Family-friendly games included a football toss, beanbag toss, water balloon games, and the ever-popular oranges-in-the-pantyhose game. Kids played in a jumping castle, had their faces painted, and took their parents and grandparents along on a putt putt golf tournament.
Event Chairman Tom Gould, with help from his wife Amanda, led an enthusiastic group of Affiliates in planning the day – and true to theme, even their spouses and family members helped in organizing and running the event.
The Affiliates’ goal for the Family Appreciation Day is to provide a fun, free celebration to show AAR members how much they are appreciated; now that the event is done, AAR members can let the Affiliates know they are valued as well by saying thanks for a job well done!
Special thanks to the chefs who grilled hot dogs, hamburgers and chicken on a warm summer afternoon. Chefs Ann Bagwell, Chase Home Financial; Ryan Urbach, Mountain Mortgage Group; Adam Malachi, Gateway Realty Services; and Tom Gould, WIN Home Inspections, were assisted by spouses Amanda Gould and Brian Bagwell.
Beau LaPoint, Chicago Title, contributed more than 30 pounds of chicken for grilling, and his daughter filled up the many water balloons that got tossed around the party. Jerry Burns, Colorado Carpet Care, provided five gallons of delicious baked beans; Becky Kirkpatrick, Priority Appraisals, Inc., and Wanda Ramey, Generation 5, Inc., provided cold watermelon. The Affiliate Committee supplied the rest of the spread – hamburgers, hotdogs, potato salad, chips, and desserts.
Decorations in the form of red, white and blue balloons were provided by Annitra Swan, 1031 Corporation, and Kassie Katzer, Blind Corners & Curves. The popular face painter was sponsored by Bonnie Warner, Shea Homes. Wendy Burkett, Big Box Storage, provided the football toss and bean bag tosses, and Becky Kirkpatrick, Priority Appraisals, Inc, supplied the jumping castle. REALTOR® member Mitch Myers, Metro Brokers – Myers Realty, entertained children and adults alike with his magic tricks.
First place finisher in the putt putt golf tournament was Parker Friedentag, followed by his father Perry Friedentag, Cherry Creek Properties.

Adam Malachi and Tom Gould brave the smoke to grill up some family-style fare for the many AAR members and their families who attended the Family Appreciation Day in June.

Lisa Sachleben and her daughter loved the face painting. The family-friendly event drew more than 150 people to the Aurora’s Bicentennial Park.

Mitch Myers once again amazed the young and the “slightly over young” crowd with mind-blowing magic tricks. |
