Aurora lives in us
By Nancy Griffin, AAR President
It is with great pride and a feeling of assurance that I can say the community I live in is a strong, vibrant and healthy area. I have raised children in this city and bought homes in this city. I work, live and play in this city.
Aurora is a great place to be part of. It is filled with diversity, expands over a great many miles, encompasses three different counties and continually grows to embrace the many who are attracted to its attributes and want to call it their home.
It is during this very sensitive time that strength, compassion and love must find each and every one of us – to help us understand the dynamics of this city we call home; to help us grieve and forgive; to let us pursue our lives with the knowledge that good is among us.
Everywhere we go we must show, by even the smallest of our actions, that we are strong and committed to making Aurora a safe and extraordinary place to live, work and play. While we already know that our city is a fantastic place to call home, we can take this time to show the world that Aurora is in us and that we stand together through good times and bad.
Let us never forget the terrible tragedy that befell our great city – and yet again our great state – and use it as a reminder that life is fragile but should be lived without fear; lived with gusto, hope and appreciation; lived with joy and thankfulness that we in our daily lives can make a difference. Let it be known that you're from Aurora. Show your fellow man and woman we stand as a community that takes cares of each other and that while we reside in Aurora, Aurora lives in us.
