2003 REALTOR® of the Year
Caroline Nordyke
Look East Realty

2003 Affiliate of the Year
Randy Schofield
Chase Manhattan Mortgage Corp.

She may have been surprised at being named REALTOR® of the Year, but none in the crowd at the 46th Inaugural Celebration believed that Caroline Nordyke deserved any less.

A poised and graceful leader, Nordyke's involvements are many and her commitment to them deep. In addition to being the broker/owner of her own company, Look East Realty, Nordyke finds time to give to her Association, the Women's Council of REALTORS®, the Colorado Association of REALTORS® and to her community.

Nordyke was the Corporate Secretary for AAR in 2002 - 2003, taking that post after her successful presidential term. Her dedication to the Association since joining in 1993 has included two years as a Director of the Board; a two year chairmanship of the Equal Opportunity Committee, and involvement on the Teller Committee. Nordyke is also a supporter of numerous AAR events, showing with her time, talent and resources that she values her involvement in her Association.

The Women's Council of REALTORS® and the Colorado Association of REALTORS® are also beneficiaries of Nordyke's commitment. This year, she is a member of the WCR National Nominating Committee and has, in the past, been president of the Colorado State Chapter and of the Mile High Chapter. For CAR, she is an active member of the Convention Committee for the second year, and has been involved in leadership training, the Leadership Institute Committee, and Equal Opportunity Committee.

Being involved is only a small part of what makes a successful REALTOR®, as well as a successful person. According to Linda Philpott, who as last year's REALTOR® of the Year presented Nordyke with her honor this year, Nordyke consistently and faithfully does the right thing, never taking the easy way out. She believes in education and in giving back to her community. And she sets high standards for herself and works consistently and with determination to achieve her goals.

Nordyke was joined on stage by two surprise guests - daughter Kimberly Iverson and Iverson's husband Andrew. Their support and presence, as well as being given this prestigious award by her peers, nearly brought tears to her eyes. The overwhelming recognition may have come as a surprise to Nordyke, perhaps, but not at all to those who know her.

Randy Schofield believes in helping other people achieve success. He believes in giving 100 percent of himself to the organizations and causes he supports. He belives in forward motion, family, and honesty.

These outstanding qualities garnered him 2003 Affiliate of the Year honors from the Aurora Association of REALTORS®, and a standing ovation from his peers and colleagues at the Inaugural Celebration in September.

In introducing Schofield for this surprise award, last year's Affiliate of the Year Jack Sughrue said that at Friday Morning REALTOR® Update Meetings, Schofield is known by his friends as the Tank Commander. The nickname is in joking reference to Schofield's army days and the way he keeps meetings on time, on task and focused.

The nickname may be in jest, but its underlying meaning is very serious - it's the way Schofield lives and works. He's conscientiously on time for his commitments; he achieves more in a day than many do in a week; and he keeps his eye on his goals with a singular focus, often taking time to study what he does not know for his own betterment and for that of others.

Schofield is a tireless worker at AAR, this year stepping down after a year as the Affiliate Chairman, preceded by a year as Affiliate Vice-Chairman. Schofield's dedication to the REALTOR® Update Programming Task Force has ensured that attendance at those meetings, and therefore value to attendees, has skyrocketed. He is onhand as a planner and supporter of all Affiliate events, including the fundraiser, and lends his time and effort to make sure that REALTOR® causes and happenings are a success.

Schofield is a dedicated family man who values time at home with his wife Erica and his two children, Joshua and Emily. In fact, part of the Affiliate of the Year presentation that seemed to touch Schofield as much as the accolades from his peers was the fact that his two children and his mother and father surprised him by appearing at the event to show their support and pride.

Outside of his work and the Association, Schofield is active in his church, both as a Sunday School teacher and as a member of the Riverside Baptist Church Choir, which has been on television and recorded both nationally and locally.
